Norway Cruise Ships

While you may find it ironic that when looking for a cruise in Norway, Norwegian Cruise Lines actually doesn’t service the country, there are a few companies that provide cruises along Norway’s scenic fjords alongside mountains and hilly terrain. Depending on your budget and preference, you may opt with one of the three major cruise companies that offer cruises in the country Norway. These three include Costa Cruises, Hurtigruten and Fred Olsen. Fred Olsen and Hurtigruten are both Norwegian-based companies while Costa is based out of Hollywood, CA. All cruise lines have phenomenal packages to a variety of exotic Norwegian locations in some of the finest ships across the globe!

Costa Cruises’ Ships

Costa Cruises features three ships that make trips to Norway. They are all multi-tier super cruisers capable of handling at least one-thousand guests at maximum capacity. The ships on Costa’s fleet include:

  • Costa Deliziosa – this ship is considered the “diamond” of the Costa fleet. It is a newly built ship and it features master chefs that prepare five-star dishes for you to enjoy in the cruiser’s dining room, immersive art collections and a spa service onboard to soothe away your aches and pains.
  • Costa Magica – Also a newly constructed boat, the Magica is the flagship of the Costa Cruise Line. It addition to offering cruises through Norway, you may catch the Magica docked in one of many ports in Italy.
  • Costa Pacifica – This ship is beyond elegant and it has a theme of musicality. Thrilling music, soothing music and notes of all instruments can be heard on this ship as you travel, dance and karaoke your luxurious cruise away!

HurtiGruten’s Ships

Hurtigruten’s fleet is massive. They have fourteen ships and eleven of them are operating throughout Norway at any given time. A few ship names and specifications are as follows:

  • MS Midnatsol – has a max capacity of one-thousand passengers, is over one-hundred thirty-five feet long and was built in 2003.
  • MS Finnmarken – Also a max capacity of one-thousand, is over one-hundred thirty-eight feet long and was built in 2002.
  • MS Polarlys – Max capacity of four-hundred passengers, over eighty-seven feet long and was built in 1964.
  • MS Kong Harald – Max capacity of over six-hundred ninety passengers, a length of over one-hundred twenty feet and was built in 1993.
  • NS Nordlys – Max capacity of again, just over six-hundred ninety passengers, the same length of the Kong Harald (one-hundred twenty feet) and built in 1994.

Fred Olsen’s Ships

Fred Olsen has four ships that their site modestly states are “smaller ships”. Believe that this was modesty: most of their ships have a capacity of over eight hundred people and their largest ship, the Balmoral has a capacity of over one-thousand three-hundred. Listed along with some amenities that the ship features, here are Fred Olsen’s ships:

  • Balmoral – entertainment includes a casino, three lounges and two bars.
  • Boudicca – Four lounges, a casino and an observatory.
  • Black Watch – Three lounges, a casino and a theatre.
  • Braemar – Two of each: bars, lounges and clubs.
